Drought in the northern Marshall Islands

マーシャルの北部の島で極度の干ばつが発生しています。2013年の始めの3ヶ月でウォッジェ環礁では1インチ以下の雨、ウチリック環礁とクェゼリン環礁では3.4インチとなっています。首都マジュロ環礁では18インチでした。マジュロはなんとかなるレベルでした。

The report of the US water officials on Guam shows the intensity of the drought in the northern Marshall Islands. There was less than one inch of rain in Wotje Atoll and only 3.4 inches in Utrik Atoll and Kwajalein Atoll, compared to the 18 inches that fell over Majuro Atoll in the first three months of 2013. We worked out in Majuro with this level.

これは位置によって異なることを示しています。マーシャル南部に位置する北緯6度のミリ環礁では、同じ期間で35インチ以上の雨でした。北部のウォッジェ環礁は北緯9度、ウチリック環礁は北緯11度に位置します。1月から3月はマーシャルの乾期ですが北部の雨量は異常です。

This shows depending on the location. Mili Atoll, which is located at 6 degrees north of the equator, received over 35 inches of rain during the period. Wotje Atoll is 9 degrees north and Utrik Atoll is 11 degrees north. It is not a normal amount of rain in the northern islands even though January to April are traditionally the RMI's dry period.

干ばつが発生している北部の島を救う募金のため、干ばつ救済コンサートが6月8日18時からRREホテルのステージで行われます。主催者の中には2年前の東日本大震災のチャリティコンサートを開催したグループも含まれています。

A drought relief concert to raise money for aid to drought-hit northern islands will be held at the stage of RRE hotel at 18:00 on June 8. The sponsors of the concert include the same group which had a charity concert for the Great East Japan Earthquake two years ago.
