Preserved Breadfruit Bwiro

ローカルフードのブイローです。ブレッドフルーツを発酵させて保存食にしたものです。

ブレッドフルーツを数日塩水につけた後、絞って水をきり、オーブンで焼いてあります。これで半年以上もちます。

A local food Bwiro is a fermented and preserved breadfruit.

It is made as follows:
Breadfruit is soaked in saltwater for several days. Then it is squeezed to remove the water in it. And after that, it is baked in the oven.

Bwiro can be stored for a half year or so before being eaten.

This is Bwiro wrapped with a leaf of breadfruit. Bwiro sounds like "we-low" well known as a Japanese food. The texture of Bwiro is also like "we-low". It is a bit smooth and sticky. I like its natural sweetness from genuine breadfruit without adding sugar.
