Cooking Dumplings

茹でる餃子、いわゆる水餃子が中国圏ではポピュラーです。祝い事のときによく食べる縁起のよいものらしいです。

Boiled dumplings are popular in Greater China. It is said dumplings bring good luck.

マーシャルでの私の食生活を少しでも豊かな物にしたくて、自家製の餃子を皮から作ってみてるんですが、何度やってもうまくいかないんです。茹でている時に皮が破れてしまいます。

I really wanted to add variety to my dinner in the Marshall Islands. I tried making dumplings from the skins by myself some times. But it was very difficult for me to make rounded skins of dumplings. The skins were broken easily when they were boiled in water.

結局、台湾人の方に教えてもらい、何とかコツをつかむことができました。

After these failures, I was taught by a Taiwanese cooking master how to make skins from the very beginning. I think I've almost got the points now.

茹でる前がこれです。どんなもんでしょう?形が揃って綺麗でしょ。これなら破れないと思います。

Here are improved dumplings before boiled. How are they? I think they are beautiful. They are same size and same shape. I believe they will never be broken during boiling.

具にマーシャルで穫れたマグロやグルーパーをたたいて入れてもおいしいかもね。

It would be nice if ground local tuna or grouper was used as filling of dumplings instead of pork.
